Public Notices

  • Scam Alert Wrap-Up

    • Before we go, here’s an important warning about a dangerous new scam making the rounds. Criminals are now using artificial intelligence to clone the voices of loved ones—calling victims and pretending to be in trouble to trick them into sending money. These scams are designed to create panic and urgency.

    • Here are a few quick tips to protect yourself:

      • Don’t trust caller ID—scammers can spoof numbers.

      • Hang up and call your loved one directly, even if the caller says not to.

      • Set a family code word for emergencies.

      • Keep your social media private, and don’t overshare.

    • Even with these precautions, scammers can be convincing. Unfortunately, if you send money, the chances of recovering it are very slim. Local law enforcement often lacks the resources to investigate these crimes, especially since many scammers operate from outside the U.S. That’s why it’s so important to report these incidents to federal authorities:

      • Federal Trade Commission – Call 1-877-FTC-HELP or visit ReportFraud.ftc.gov

      • FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center – Go to www.ic3.gov

  • Detour Alert

    • Please be advised that a detour remains in effect at the intersection of Kelson Avenue and Smith Street. This detour has caused confusion, so we urge drivers to slow down and use alternate routes when possible.

  • City Hall Closure Reminder

    • Marianna City Hall will be closed today, Friday, April 18th, in observance of Good Friday. Wishing everyone a joyful and safe Easter weekend.

As always, if we can ever be of any assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact the Marianna Police Department at (850) 526-3125. Stay alert, stay calm, and stay safe, Marianna.
