Press Release from Sneads Police Department

On April 11, 2025, at around 6:00 p.m. the Sneads Police Department responded to an altercation on Gorrie Ave. Upon arrival contact was made with the female victim. She provided video, taken with her phone, of the suspect, Samuel Allie Whittington, vandalizing her car. In the 45 second video Whittington is seek kicking the driver’s side mirror off of the car, kicking the car door, slashing all four tires with a knife, breaking the driver’s side door handle, and striking the hood and headlight with a tire iron, all while the victim was locked inside the vehicle. Whittington fled into the woods behind the residence prior to the Officer’s arrival. A criminal complain was completed and the victim was escorted home, a few doors down. Later that evening, at around 11:00 p.m. another call was received, this time at the victim’s residence. In her statement she reported that she had been assaulted by Whittington. She was bleeding from mouth and her nose was swollen. She reported that when she attempted to go to her car, she observed Whittington walking down the street. He approached the victim and snatched her cell phone. When she ran after him to get her phone back, Whittington reportedly threw her to the ground and kicked her in the face. He again fled on foot back toward the scene of the original incident. The ACI K-9 Tracking Team were called and quickly responded. A track was established which led back to the original residence where Whittington was located hiding under the mobile home. He was taken into custody without incident. In a post-miranda statement Whittington admitted to some of the allegations. Officers did learn that he broke the victim’s phone and threw it under the trailer. Whittington was lodged in the Jackson County Correctional Facility charged with Felony Battery, Felony Criminal Mischief, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and Petit Theft of the Cell Phone. He was held on a $16,000 bond. The Sneads Police Department would like to thank ACI Tracking Team and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance with this case.
