Marianna High School volleyball standout Jaylen Bragg is moving on up to the next level. She signed on the dotted line last week before family, friends, and teammates to play volleyball for the Andrew College Tigers.
Bragg has devoted 10 years to volleyball, both conventional and beach volleyball. She has been an integral part of the Bulldogs’ volleyball team throughout high school, and at Marianna Middle School prior to that. Her love of the sport led her to play travel or club volleyball where she played for ProStyle and Cross Point. She said what she liked most about volleyball was it was fun.
Huntington College as well as Andrew College expressed an interest in Bragg but Andrew College suited her both academically and for volleyball. She has a 4.0 GPA at Marianna High School and plans a career in Sports Medicine and Andrew offered courses that coincided with that major. Although she’s not been told what position she will play at Andrew College, she played Libero at MHS.
Bragg excels off the court as well as on the court. She is a member of Beta, National Honor Society, and SGA (Student Government Association). Bragg said she is thankful for those who helped her to achieve where she is today, “My parents, my coaches, Coach Massengill (Kris- ten), Coach Zayas (Anthony), and Coach Peacock (Lacee).”
She is the daughter of Jason and Becki Bragg and has one sibling, sister Ava Bragg who is 13 and also plays volleyball at Marianna K8.
Congratulations to Jaylen on her signing to continue to play the sport she loves.
