Jeremy Sheird Greer

Jeremy Sheird Greer, 53, a deeply loved and integral member of the Sunland-Marianna family passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of joy and affection.
Jeremy moved to Sunland-Marianna on December 18, 1998. For 28 beautiful years, he was far more than just a resident—he was an integral part of the heartbeat of the Sunland family. To know Jeremy was to know his passions, and chief among them was his lifelong love for horses. In his earlier years, he was an avid and proud participant in Sunland’s equestrian program. As time went on, that passion never faded. He visited the ranch at every single opportunity, always eager to feed his equine friends their favorite treat—apples. Those moments at the ranch perfectly captured Jeremy’s gentle heart and his ability to find pure happiness in the simple things.
As much as Jeremy loved the ranch, his deepest devotion of all was to his family. We take comfort in knowing that Jeremy is now peacefully reunited with his loving parents, John and Elizabeth Greer, a brother Timothy Greer who went before him. The bond Jeremy shared with his siblings was extraordinary. His sister, Jeanni Liles Greer, visited him several times a week, creating a beautiful and enduring tradition that we will all cherish in our memories. Jeanni always arrived with her pockets full of Jeremy’s favorite tiny rubber squeaky toys. Without fail, every single time, Jeremy would eagerly ask what was in her pockets. He was never disappointed. That playful, loving routine brought endless smiles to everyone. Jeremy was also deeply adored by his brother, Eddie Greer, who traveled frequently from out of town just to spend precious time by his side. And he was a wonderfully loved uncle to Eddie’s boys Justin and Matthew and Jeanni’s son who showed his love for Jeremy in the most beautiful way one summer—by helping to plant flowers outside the Ellen Thiel Center, brightening up the place Jeremy and his fellow residents called home.
The staff at Sunland were much more than caregivers; they were Jeremy’s extended family providing him with a safe, loving environment whose hearts will miss him beyond words. Jeremy’s life was a masterclass in the power of unconditional love, community, and simple joys. His bright spirit leaves an indelible mark on this world and we will think of him each time the flowers bloom outside the Ellen Thiel Center.
Jeremy is in the care of Marianna Chapel Funeral Home. A private burial will be held at Magnolia Cemetery, Defuniak Springs, Florida.
Rest in peace, dear Jeremy. You are forever loved, and you are finally running free among the horses you loved so well.
