Mona Patricia Martin

Mona Patricia Martin

Mona Patricia Martin, passed away on October 7, 2026, in Marianna, Florida, at the age of 92. She was born on March 17, 1934, in Venice, California, and lived a long and meaningful life.

Mona was raised on Rancho La Ballona, her family’s historic ranch spanning nearly 14,000 acres—a land deeply woven into the heritage and history of Culver City, California. Growing up on the family ranch, she learned the values of hard work, resilience, and devotion; lessons that beautifully shaped the woman she became and guided her throughout her life.

She later met the love of her life, John R. Martin, and together they built a life that eventually brought them to the Southeast for new opportunities. Settling in Marianna, Florida, they established Marianna Airmotive Corp. and together, they layed deep roots in their new community.

A true entrepreneur at heart, Mona owned and operated several of her own businesses over the years, bringing her signature drive and vision to each venture. In addition to her business endeavors, she devoted many years of service to the State of Florida, working as a State Revenue Officer. Whether in business, public service, or at home, Mona was known for doing everything with care, purpose, and dedication.

Mona was preceded in death by the father of her children, John R. Martin; her two sons, Frank Martin and John H. Martin, Sr.; her parents, William John Rico and Carmen Machado Rico; and her siblings, Carmen “Cita” Melendez, Erlinda “Lindy” Navarez, Raquel “Cookie” Howe, and Frank Rico. Though she experienced the loss of many loved ones, she remained a source of strength and love for her family throughout her life.

She is survived by her son, Jason Martin and his wife, Tami; her daughters, Mona M. Martin and Jennifer Martin; her sister, Teresa Keeler and her husband, Richard; her stepchildren, Hazel Grigsby, and Jay Grigsby, Jr. and his wife, Jolene; her grandchildren, John “John John” Martin, Jr. (Shanna), Justin Smith, Brandi Porter, Forrest Martin (Diamond), Kamryn Martin, and Tessa Land and her husband, Tyler; step-grandchildren, Joe Grigsby and his wife, Amber, Chappy Grigsby and her husband, Ryan, China Grigsby, Dakota Grigsby and his wife, Hannah, and Denver Grigsby and his wife, Bridget; her great-grandchildren, Makayla Martin (Joe), John H. Martin, III, (Shelby) and Breeana Henderson; and her great-great-grandchildren, Everleigh Martin, Westin Martin, and Vada Martin; and her special friend, Amanda Crawford. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who will cherish her memory and the many ways she enriched their lives.

A graveside funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 12, 2026 in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with Father Phil Fortin officiating and Marianna Chapel Funeral Home directing.

The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. John Spence, the staff at Marianna Health and Rehabilitation Center and Amanda Crawford for the friendships and care provided to Mona over the years.
