Syble “Veneeda” Johnson Jordan

Syble “Veneeda” Johnson Jordan a long-time resident of Bascom, Florida, passed away on October 23, 2026. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. Her life was rooted in family, faith, and community.
Born November 9, 1937, to Joe and Neta Johnson of Bascom, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband Doyle Patterson (Pat) Jordan; her sister, Sara McMullian; and her grandson, Jason Michael Jordan. She is survived by her three sons, Michael (Rene), Steve (Milo) and John (Cindy); her grandchildren, Trinity (Samantha), Cole, Dawson and Macy; and her great-grandson Evan Williams.
She spent many years working for Malone School, her alma mater, where she had the opportunity to help serve the school community. Veneeda’s faith was an important part of her life, and she dearly loved her church and church family. She found joy in gardening and floral arranging, sharing her love of flowers and the beauty of God’s creation with those around her. She also loved hosting family gatherings, especially during the holidays and vegetable harvest season. Often anyone who came, to help put up corn, got to enjoy a fresh tomato sandwich and a piece of homemade fried chicken. The days were long, hot, productive and stories were shared. Anyone who helped left with the fruits of their labor. She shared her knowledge of old family recipes and food preservation generously and kept family traditions alive.
Graveside funeral service will be 2 PM Sunday, October 25, 2026, at Hickory Grove Free Will Baptist Church, 5745 Grove Road, Bascom, FL, with Pastor Ed Ham presiding and James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hickory Grove Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
